PR: 4 | Caneel Bay, A Rosewood Resort Inspires visitors to thoroughly unwind in beautifully natural surroundings and mellow luxury. This exclusive resort is nestled within the Virgin Islands National Park on the US Virgin Island of St. John. Laurance Rockefeller designed it with a reverence for nature and Caneel stays loyal to that vision to this day. Seven pristine white sand beaches border 170 private acres. The actual accommodations blend into the landscape and lack showy modern decor. No digital distractions. A place to leave it all behind. http://www.caneelbay.com/serv.cfm |
PR: 3 | Casa de Campo More and more La Terraza Tennis Center, located at the Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic, is being referred to as the "Wimbledon of the Caribbean". Refinement and beauty surround the grounds which extend above the 13 secluded har-tru courts and well beyond the actual resort. The Caribbean Sea is a majestic backdrop (whether it be sound or sight) for this sublime tennis setting and the large staff specializes in intuiting the needs of each person under their care. Tennis lessons are available on site and so is a wide selection of equipment. Most of their courts have lighting for evening play, and kids are more than welcome. The Casa works hard to create a family friendly vacation experience and has seen youngsters mature into parents over the course of many return visits. Website features online booking, event planning, details about side excursions to local sightseeing attractions, real estate options, and a decent photo gallery that gives a general idea of what lays ahead at the resort. They also provide a newsletter to users, and a downloadable tourist brochure. http://www.casadecampo.com.do/en/sports/tennis.asp |
PR: 4 | Four Seasons Resort Nevis Located in Pinney's Beach, Nevis, West Indies. Resort has 10 courts, some of which are lit for night play and all the courts are either red clay or hard surfaced. They also have pro coaches on hand for guests to study with - whether they are beginners or experienced tennis players. Their facilities are managed by the very reputable Peter Burwash International, so you know you are going to get top quality when you stay here. The exhibition court has stadium seating and is absolutely stellar! The on site pro shop carries everything from equipment and clothing, to accessories and gifts. It is conveniently situated in the sports pavilion. Hot tip: the resort offers Avid Player rates but they are only offered with advanced booking. If you want to reserve a spot get in touch with the front desk or it can be done through the shop. The website features a fantastic photo gallery and if it was the only thing they offered they would never have to worry about filling beds... but they do provide other great stuff like online booking, and a very detailed description of how to get to the resort. More maps would be nice though. http://www.fourseasons.com/nevis/tennis.html |
PR: 3 | Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa Pleasure is the result of staying and playing at the Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa, a.k.a the Wyndham Grand Resort. Highly ranked in the world of tennis resorts due to its famous Peter Burwash programs and world class facilities. This tennis center and rejuvenating spa perfectly compliment the divine beauty of the surrounding El Yunque National Forest. Tennis pros instruct on skill-building, give clinics and share tennis tips. Their aim is always the same: to enhance your love of the game. This is achieved by 13 of the finest har-tru courts in the area, some of which are suitable for night games, and through superb tennis shopping at the resort pro shop. All this combines to create a superior beach getaway with a peerless tennis experience. The ocean can be seen from most of the 600 rooms and is evoked by the Caribbean decor, tropical yet delicately appointed. The staff is friendly and has achieved awards for bending over backwards to make each individual feel like their needs are a priority. The resort has recently under gone a fantastically expensive renovation and the photo gallery shows the benefits of all that work. Website offers several vacation packages to choose from and a detailed map of the resort and its grounds. It is a great place to hold a meeting or to host an event - like a wedding - catered. They provide a toll free number for making reservations. http://www.wyndhamriomar.com/recreation/tennis.html |
PR: 3 | The Buccaneer Quite simply one of the finest tennis resorts in the Caribbean. The Buccaneer has not slipped under the radar of Tennis Magazine, which cannot say enough good about it. People have been playing here for over 50 years and the grounds exude a feeling that is steeped in tennis tradition. Their 8 Laykold courts are available for night play, which is very popular because it is so hot in the day, so be sure to reserve your spot if you desire a game on a specific evening. Don't worry about bringing your equipment or getting your racquet strung before you go on holiday as their full service pro shop sells top name brand equipment and has a quick turn over for stringing. Check their yearly tournament schedule (with the resort because it isn't included on the website) and if your timing is right you may just arrive in time to participate in formidable competition. Either way you can count on being paired up with a perfect tennis partner for one of the resort's weekly round robins, or a drill for ladies doubles. Matching is their specialty! Website features maps and resort facts, a long photo-filled description of the rooms, details about their honeymoon packages, and several virtual tours guaranteed to make you salivate. http://www.thebuccaneer.com/tennis.htm |
